Book Spotlight – Mysteries

We recently co-hosted an event with Lyndon, Vermont author Charles Fergus, who spoke about his debut mystery novel, A Stranger Here Below. During his talk, he mentioned some of his favorite mystery authors, and afterward shared a whole list! Here are some of his recommended reads:

9780312427320Arnaldur Indridason, an Icelander, especially The Silence of the Grave – great sense of place.
“Easy Rawlins” mysteries by Walter Mosley, especially the earlier ones.
Tony Hillerman’s mysteries set in Navajo land.
C.J. Sansom’s Matthew Shardlake novels, set in London during the reign of Henry VIII, in the 1500s.
James Lee Burke – great descriptions of the land and sky, awe-inspiring villains.
Peter May’s “Isle of Lewis” trilogy.
Magdalen Nabb’s “Marshall Guarnaccia” procedurals.
